Time off & Saundra Messinger ring

I've been so busy living that I've not been posting. That and switching over high speed services at home and a new computer have put the blog on hold for a while. I don't know that I can catch up so perhaps to take off the pressure I'll start from now and go on.

My aforementioned ring from Down Under Jewelry in Newport arrived today and the designer who's name I could not remember is Saundra Messinger (link to her site above). Check out her goods! The woman is so talented. The magical quality that attracted me to her work in the store has held up. I really feel like I have something that was crafted in ancient times by fairies or elves.

My dear, beautiful, brilliant, and funny friend Jen took me for a belated b-day meal to Omai last night. What a lovely treat; the ambiance, the food, the service, and her company. You can of course experience 3 of the 4 unless you know Jen and then the evening will be completely magical. We shared as we usually do and started with Kettle 1, soda, and rose’s lime juice cocktails which were perfect and refreshing for a sultry summer night. Shrimp rolls with peanut dipping sauce were followed by a lovely spicy beef salad. Then we had this inventive concoction of chopped veggies and monkfish served over thick crispy rice crackers, followed by an entrée of clay pot chicken with jasmine rice, and finally warm banana bread pudding with ice cream.
The service was languid but attentive. We were there for 2 ½ hours and never felt anything but special guests, which is a rare trick in NY.

Antique Stairway

The stairway that I'd purchased from The Armory in Newport RI arrived and I'm as thrilled with it as I was when I bought it. I'd had it sent to my office and have yet to take it home as I'm here more than there anyway. I don't know a thing about it provenance so if anyone reading this does please post a comment.
